We charge $75 per hour for most design services, with each hour
being billed in 15 minute increments. We do not charge for RIP
or printing time.
Our software knowledge is extensive. We design our projects with
Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Quark Xpress.
We also support a variety of other industry standard graphic and
illustration software packages such as Adobe InDesign & PageMaker,
Macromedia Freehand, CorelDraw, etc. for supplied file support.
Not only do we support the latest software for design and illustration
but we have an ongoing training program to insure that all of the
graphic design staff at Adcolor knows how to use all of these software
tools to make your project a success. Our design workstations are
Macintosh-based with the latest software package releases. Cross
platform support is no problem at Adcolor. Our success in processing
pc based files is very high. It is important to note the pc
software for illustration and design has a very wide gamut from
professional Adobe software to very inexpensive paint applications.
Adcolor will lend our experience and skill to make your job a success.
Here are some considerations to be aware of when preparing and
sending digital art files to Adcolor.
Be sure to include fonts – You have spent a lot of time
in design and selection of fonts that compliment your design. Be
sure to include copies of the font files so that your design prints
as you had planned. Both screen and printer fonts are necessary
to make a smooth transition out of our art department.
Non-supported and outdated Graphics Programs -- Please refer
to our “Art Guidelines” document which outlines programs
supported. Also, very old versions of programs can produce unexpected
results in some cases.
Missing support Files – It is also important that all support
files such as tiff and eps files are included when you send your
file set. Don’t forget the fonts!
File construction & nesting – Creating
graphics in one application and importing them into another program
is called “nesting”.
In some cases, this process is necessary to achieve certain effects.
In many cases, though, this process can cause problems if not done
properly. We recommend the use of page layout programs like Quark
XPress and Adobe InDesign for nesting graphics inside of a layout.
Resolution of Raster Images – Be sure that the resolution
of your graphics is adequate to achieve the size you are looking
for in your printed piece. If in doubt, scan your image at the
highest optical resolution possible and we can take care of properly
sizing the image in Adcolor’s art department.
Supply a Color Print – Color
prints are great for a few reasons. It gives both parties a visual
confirmation that the correct file was sent. It also gives us visual
reference for placement, fonts, colors and is a good final proofing
step before you commit to printing and the costs associated with
going to press with your project.
Critical Colors Noted? – Be
sure that you indicate specific spot and pantone colors so we know
how to handle these unique colors through the printing and proofing
process.
Finishing – be sure to let
us know how the project needs to be finished and we will make sure
that your artwork is compatible with your finishing.
